Franziska Bitzi Staub studied law at the University of St. Gallen, with a foundation course in business administration and economics. She worked as a court clerk, lawyer, head of legal services, and secretary general to a government councillor. Additionally, she served as a board member of a regional bank. From2004 to 2016, she was a member of the Grand City Council of Lucerne, including roles as parliamentary group leader of the CVP and a member of the audit committee. Since March 2017, she has been the Director of Finance for the City of Lucerne. In this capacity, she serves as a board member of Luzern Tourismus AG, a trustee of Lucerne’s economic development foundation, and president of the Conference of Municipal Finance Directors.
